A new centre of excellence, an innovative community resource centre

Being a tenant of Kuumba Imani has considerable advantage for Writing on the Wall beyond simply renting office space. We are located in the heart of the Liverpool Black & Racial Minority communities. As an organisation that delivers a festival and an annual programme of public events and creative writing projects we are committed to diverse audience development and community participation so the location is ideal for us. It is very useful for us to sharing a building with community organisations whose clients may benefit from the kind of projects we offer. The conference rooms are used regularly by WoW to deliver weekly projects and public events an there are real logistical advantages in being able to deliver activity in the same building in which we have our office.

As a therapeutic community of Mersey Care NHS Trust mental health professionals and service users involved in the running of psychosocial group work for people who experience complex psychological difficulties, it is important that we can provide a reliable and structured programme to deliver our service safely and in a containing atmosphere. The Kuumba Imani environment has proved to be an excellent venue choice that has met our staff and group members’ needs reliably over the past 3 years. The Management and Reception staff has always delivered a high standard of professionalism in being helpful, discreet and sensitive in supporting the group’s business, and the impeccable condition of the building serves to enhance the self-esteem of our group members. The Kuumba Imani is becoming part of our identity!

We first used the Centre to host a meeting that was planned at very short notice. The staff could not have been more helpful or accommodating. The centre itself is well located and easy to access, with good facilities. We were so impressed we have continued to use it ever since.

As a charity we look for value for money, as well as a professional approach. The Kuumba Imani Millennium Centre offers a welcoming, modern environment to work in and I would highly recommend this as a venue for other organisations particularly those with shared values in the third sector.

A warm and friendly learning environment, help and support is readily available should it be needed. Painting and drawing are in a large, well lit studio space. The usual facilities are modern and well appointed. Tea and coffee are available and delightful food too!!!

Kuumba Imani Millennium Centre has hosted a number of events for Mersey Care NHS Trust Liverpool Clinical Business Unit. The facilities are of a very good standard and well organised.

The staff are extremely helpful and will respond to any requests quickly and very professionally.

I would not hesitate to recommend The Kummba Imani for future events.

We used the café style area for a launch of our World Food Night event. The organisation and friendly service before during and after was of a really high standard. I am happy to recommend Kuumba Imani to any organisations holding meetings, conferences and events, and will definitely be encouraging my colleagues at Refugee Action to book it for future projects.

Merseyside Refugee and Asylum Pre- and Post-natal Support Group chose the Kuumba Imami Centre for their Staff Development Day as they were looking for a relaxed environment where staff would respond flexibly to their requirements. We had a very pleasant day and were made to feel very welcome. We had ordered refreshments in advance but had to make alterations to the numbers and the Centre was very accommodating in doing this. Our meeting was held in mid-January but we found the accommodation warm and comfortable. Staff at the Centre were able to advise us on the most appropriate size of room as there is a variety of accommodation to choose from.

The KIMC is a fantastic space, over the last 9 week, myself and the Perform L8 Theatre Company have been very lucky to have had this space to work in. It is modern and warm, the décor is lovely and the seating area downstairs provided us with somewhere to wait while the young people arrived. The staff are brilliant, there isn’t a bad word I could say about them, they are friendly and helpful. The room is great and always empty and ready for us to work in. Thank you very much and I hope that in the future I will be working here again!

An awe-inspiring talk which opened our eyes to the problems that are faced by an organisation such as Kuumba Imani. You have made us appreciate and realise the importance of such an organisation. You covered all we needed to know in detail – thank you

Kuumba Imani Millennium Centre has hosted a number of events for North West Housing Services, including staff training sessions, seminars and networking events.
Each time, the facilities have been high quality, and the staff have always been very helpful.
We had the opportunity to view the rooms in advance to ensure the layout was what we required, and I would have no hesitation in recommending the KIMC to other organisations.

This is just a short note to say a big thank you for hosting the visit by Nick Hurd MP. The Minister found the session very useful .
It was really good to have the opportunity to find out more about the organisation and the way in which you are developing a sustainable future for Kuumba Imani. I would be grateful if you could also pass on our thanks to your Chair for taking the time to meet with us.
I would like to wish you every success and hope that we will be able to keep in touch.
